Farley Chase

About Farley

I founded Chase Literary Agency in 2012 after working for eight years at the Waxman Literary Agency. I’ve worked at The New Yorker, The New Press, and as an editor at Talk Miramax Books.

Over my more than 16 years as a literary agent I’ve been fortunate to work with New York Times Bestsellers, winners of the Pulitzer Prize, Olympic Gold Medalists, members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Members of Congress.

I take a deliberate and editorially-minded approach to content and I work with authors closely to prepare material for submission and throughout the publishing process.

I’m keenly interested in fiction - whether literary or commercial, contemporary or historical – anything with a strong sense of place, voice, and, especially, plot. I don’t handle science fiction, romance, supernatural or young adult.

I'm just as interested in narrative nonfiction, especially in history, memoir, journalism, natural science, military history, sports, pop culture, and humor.

I also handle visually-driven and illustrated books. Whether they involve photography, comics, illustrations, or art I’m taken by creative storytelling with visual elements.

I live in NYC with my wife and dog, and am a graduate of Macalester College.

Query Instructions

I try to respond to all queries received.

I do not respond to queries that are not specifically addressed to me by name.

I prefer straightforward query letters by email that get right to the point about what the project is and which show the author to be familiar with the marketplace.

If you're submitting fiction please include the first few pages of the manuscript with the query.

Please note that I do not represent young adult, romance, or science fiction.
