Kim Lionetti

About Kim

As the first literary agent to charm BookEnds into hiring her, Kim has been an integral part of growing the agency, along with her clients' careers. Using the editorial skills learned during her first eight years in the industry at Berkley Publishing, Kim helps authors shape their works into books their readers will love.  With over twenty years of publishing experience, she's worked with award winners and bestsellers in a variety of genres.

Kim's journey into publishing began in middle school when she raided her grandmother's collection of Phyllis Whitney books and transformed into an incurable bibliophile.  Her other addictions include honey cinnamon lattes, British period dramas, Ryan Gosling memes, Indian food and Frescaritas.

With a client list including women's fiction, mystery, young adult and romance, Kim enjoys working on a wide range of books.  She's currently eager to grow her list in the areas of  women's fiction, suspense, and young adult.  Most especially, as an Autism mom, she is dedicated to representing the stories and voices of individuals with special needs and their families.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Kim currently resides in New Jersey with her son (knock-knock jokester extraordinaire), daughter (budding Francophile and resident drama queen),  husband (80s aficionado and sports trivia master) and Winston the twenty-pound cat.

Query Instructions

Kim is actively looking for commercial women’s fiction with a unique, dynamic hook.  Something that explores relationships between family and friends, but within a framework where stakes are raised, and the ordinary is explored amidst the extraordinary (as in Big Little Lies and Seven Days of Us).  She enjoys dual timelines and/or multiple POVs when it’s done in a way that advances the plot and creates suspense. She’s hungry to find more #ownvoices in women’s fiction, romance, suspense and young adult, and as an autism mom, is especially interested in finding more stories featuring neurodiverse characters, and those with special needs.  When it comes to suspense, Kim’s tastes tend to run very dark and gritty in both historical and contemporary, and she looks for stories that are very atmospheric with a defined sense of place. She's especially keen to find an edge-of-your-seat YA thriller à la One of Us Is Lying.

Some of Kim’s favorite non-BookEnds authors are Jojo Moyes, Liane Moriarty, Dean Koontz, Harlan Coben, Cammie McGovern and Kate Morton.  Her favorite TV shows are “Dark”, “Stranger Things”, “Mozart in the Jungle”, “Poldark”, and “This is Us”.
